Each Certificate of Conformity (COC) is unique and directly linked to the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of the specific vehicle. However, the first copy of the document is considered the true original and is intended for the vehicle’s first owner. Any additional copies may be marked as “Duplicate” or “Copy”, but they retain full validity as a Certificate of Conformity, including all security features such as a hologram, watermark, or signature.

However, if you are buying a pre-owned car, second-hand vehicle, light commercial vehicle, scooter, or motorcycle, the original COC has most likely already been issued to the first owner. Any subsequent copy, referred to as a duplicate, is subject to a fee.

As a result, there is always a cost associated with obtaining a COC.
